UTL Expands into Kano: Bringing Trusted Wealth and Legacy Services Closer to Northern Nigeria

UTL Trust Management Services Limited (UTL) opened its Kano office on 12 October 2026, bringing trust and fiduciary services closer to individuals, families, businesses and institutions across Northern Nigeria. The opening coincided with the formal launch of the UTLAM Halal Fund by UTL’s investment management subsidiary, UTL Asset Management Limited (UTLAM).

His Royal Highness, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano, opened the office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony as the event’s Special Guest of Honour. In his remarks, he welcomed UTL’s expansion into the region and its commitment to serving individuals, families and businesses.

The Emir’s participation marked a milestone in UTL’s expansion and underscored the importance of closer relationships with the communities and institutions it serves.

Commenting on the expansion, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, Chairman of the Board of Directors, UTL Trust Management Services Limited, said:

“We are not opening an office in Kano simply to add another location. We are here because we want to bring our experience, services and commitment closer to one of Nigeria’s most important commercial centres.”

The Chairman also highlighted Kano’s long-standing commercial heritage and strong business culture as reasons for its importance to UTL.

Located at 145b, Murtala Mohammed Road, Kano, the new office supports UTL’s commitment to long-term relationships in the region, helping individuals, families and institutions preserve, manage and grow their wealth.

Through its Private Trust, Public Trust and Corporate Trust businesses, UTL offers solutions spanning wealth preservation, succession planning, asset protection, institutional governance and capital market transactions. These include estate planning, wills and trusts, security and bond trusteeship, escrow services and other specialized trust arrangements.

For individuals and families, UTL supports wealth transfer across generations through conventional and Shari’ah-compliant solutions, including Waasiyah, Islamic Trust and Waqf arrangements. Businesses and institutions can also access professional trust

services that support transparent administration and the management of multiple stakeholder interests.

The Kano office will also serve as a hub for UTL Ultra, UTL’s bespoke platform for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. Its tailored services include wealth management, succession planning and legacy preservation.

Launched alongside the office opening, the UTLAM Halal Fund offers professional investment management within a Shari’ah-compliant framework. Managed by UTL Asset Management Limited, the fund is open to individuals, corporate bodies and institutions, regardless of faith. The minimum initial investment is ₦100,000.
